About Us

About Green Peace
Greenpeace Winnipeg supports Greenpeace campaigns around the world, and advocates on a local level. We aim to create a better life for Manitoba's farm animals, reduce plastic waste in Manitoba, and engage the community in environmental activism.

Greenpeace

Values

1] Independence. Greenpeace does not solicit or accept funding from governments, corporations or political parties. Greenpeace neither seeks nor accepts donations that could compromise its independence, aims, objectives or integrity.

2] Bearing witness. We ‘bear witness’ to environmental destruction in a peaceful and nonviolent manner. Philosophically and tactically, this work is done to draw attention to the injustices, raise awareness and bring public opinion to bear on decision-makers.

3] Non-violence. We strongly believe that violence in any form is morally wrong and
accomplishes nothing.

4] Internationalism. The environmental problems we face are usually global in nature, and their solutions must be too. We are committed to internationalism, and our presence in over 40 countries with 2.8 million supporters around the world allows us to bring enormous pressure to bear on power-holders.

5] Direct Action. We use nonviolent confrontation and nonviolent direct action to raise the level and quality of the public debate and to force solutions. Greenpeace takes non-violent direct action at the point of an environmental crime to expose

Our Group

Norms

1] We are Friendly. Always giving a friendly welcome to every person to arrive at a Greenpeace Winnipeg meeting or event.

2] We keep our members informed. Greenpeace Winnipeg will always share updates with all group members from meetings and events – so that every member can keep up-to-date even when not able to attend a meeting.

3] Our Events are animal-friendly and earth-friendly. We like to share vegan treats and use waste-free methods (no paper plates! etc.) at our events.
